Online Education in the Land of Oz


“If you follow the Yellow Brick Road, you’ll eventually reach the Emerald City, but once there, you’ll find, as Dorthy does, that the Wizard of Oz doesn’t have anything to offer but an illusionist’s cheap tricks.

“Oz isn’t where we want to be. It’s where we end up when we don’t know where we want to be or when we don’t have any clear ideas about where else we might go.” 


This is a presentation that I made as part of a panel on “New Technology Challenges in Higher Education” at the annual conference sponsored by the National Center for the Study of Collective Bargaining in Higher Education and the Professions, at Hunter College of the City University of New York.
